Plans for after graduation? I am going to Study Mechanical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. I will be also be playing Softball there as well.
Goal for the season? The goal for this season is to keep the success of last season with a new group of girls. We want to not only think about your previous success but we want to forge our own.
Favorite softball memory? My favorite softball memory is winning the 2022 State Championship at Caswell on fields that I have played at since I was 8. These were the fields that I developed my game and was able to accomplish a State Championship there as well. The best part of the win was my mom being there. My Mom, Cheryl Beaty Emery, won a state championship in 1990 and being able to see her face when we won was priceless.
Favorite athlete? My favorite Male athlete is Shohei Ohtani. I love his story for where he started in Japan to him becoming the first modern 2 way player in MLB history. My favorite Female athlete is Caitlin Clark. She is one of the most humble, team first basketball players I have ever seen. I also love her presence in her community and everything she does for those around her.
Any pregame ritual? My pregame ritual normally starts the night before when my sister braids my hair. Then around game time I am able to put in both my ribbons and my “gameday scrunchie”. While this whole process is happening I am imagining myself on the field and thinking about how I want my game to go.
Pregame meal? I normally don’t eat a full meal before a game but I will eat some sort of crackers or chips just to hold me over till after the game when I actually eat a meal.
Best advice you received? The best advice I ever received was from one of Club Coaches, he was a bullpen catcher for the Minnesota Twins. He told me “If your Coach can not give you a valid reason for something you are doing then he/she is wrong. There is always an explanation.”
Advice you have for other players? My best advice is never let anyone/ anything else ruin your love of the game.
Best part of softball? The best part of softball is playing a game that involves so much technique yet some times all of the techniques are not what cause you to win.
Future goals? My Future goals are to play softball all through college, hopefully earning a spot my freshman year. After College, I would like to become a strong female pressure in the STEM world and hopefully inspire more young females to become Engineers.
Anything else? Everyone should stop by a Mankato West game. You will always come and watch some good softball.
