After a long rain delay, the Portolite Peppers National 16u fell 5-4 to the So. Cal Athletics in a back and forth contest in Colorado.

The Peppers did outhit the Athletics 8-5.

The Peppers opened the scoring in the first when Jillian Olsen singled in a run. The Athletics then tied the game in the bottom of the inning.

The Peppers took the lead in the second when Torii Emery added an RBI to give the Peppers a 2-1 lead. But the Athletics answered in their half of the inning.

Addisyn Hansen took the loss on the mound. She gave up five hits on five runs over two innings.   Mariah Anderson pitched the final two innings, giving up no hits and no runs while striking out four.

Emery, Madeline Beaty and Olsen each drove in a run for the Peppers. Olsen also had two stolen bases.  Emily Hacker and Olsen were both 2-2 at the plate. Kya Alderson was 2-3.
